The Indian wind market is on course to attain the federal government's 60 GW capacity target ahead of the 2022 due date. It has actually currently crossed 34 GW mark as per IWTMA.
IWTMA Chairman Tulsi Tanti stated that "At the present rate, the wind market is on course to include 30GW of brand-new capacity in next 3 years, thus taking the cumulative overall capacity to 60 GW by FY' 21.".
The Indian wind market went through a tough period and experienced a shift from the Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) to the competitive bidding program in FY2017-18. After a slowdon in orders, the market is now on a development trajectory with a healthy order pipeline.
There was a healthy expected pipeline of 10-12 GW business even prior to the start of this fiscal year with the industry preparing for new bids & tenders by MNRE.
