Leading wind tunnel specialist Deutsche WindGuard has
extended the DAkkS-accredited measurement range. Accredited anemometer
calibrations can now be conducted with flow speeds from 0.5 m/s up to 38 m/s.
In the same course, the overall measurement uncertainty was reduced to 0.25 %
(however not less than 0.025 m/s). This is the result of a long-term internal
quality initiative. During said initiative, the fourth calibration wind tunnel
with a test section area of 1.2 m by 1.2 m received MEASNET approval.
“As part of our commitment to the highest quality, we have succeeded in
reducing the measurement uncertainty by up to 60 % in a sustainable manner,”
says Nicholas Balaresque, Managing Director of Deutsche WindGuard Wind Tunnel
Services GmbH. “These extremely precise measurements were made possible by a
comprehensive improvement process and state-of-the-art measurement technology.
Among other things, we use the Laser Doppler-Anemometer (LDA) in one of our
four wind tunnels, which Germany’s National Metrology Institute, the PTB,
uses as the primary standard for wind velocity.”
