Doosan Enerbility and Siemens Gamesa recently signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding to explore strategic cooperation in offshore wind power. The MoU was signed in Copenhagen (Denmark) and covers potential collaboration between the companies on several fronts that are Korea-focused. These include collaboration on large-scale offshore turbines, the sharing of major services, including construction of new Korean production plants, supply of wind turbine parts and installation of offshore turbines.

Doosan Enerbility will contribute to the strategic MoU its experience, domestic production base and business capabilities. This will complement Siemens Gamesa’s global offshore wind know-how. The MoU will explore potential products and services that can be used in the Korean offshore wind market. It will also examine the Korean domestic supply chain, and related industries. It will also study the potential for job creation and industrialization on the Korean offshore wind energy market.

“We are thrilled to begin to work with Doosan Enerbility to explore strategic cooperation for Korea. Strong partnerships based on mutual commitments are essential to leading the offshore revolution.” Marc Becker, CEO, Siemens Gamesa Offshore Business Unit, says that he envisions a strong alliance between the two companies. This will foster the Korean offshore wind industry, and contribute to its growth.
