Vestas and EDF Renewables to Work Together for 261 MW Wind Farm in Brazil

Vestas secured a 261MW order for Serra das Almas wind farm, which is located in Urandi, the state of Bahia.

EDF Renewables, a long-standing customer in Brazil, placed the order. It includes supply and installation for 58 V150-4.5MW wind turbines, as well as a 28-year Active Output Management (AOM 4000) service agreement, Vestas longest-term AOM.

Eduardo Ricotta is president of Vestas Latin America, he said, “We are thrilled to once again engage in a project with EDF Renewables. This underlines the strong partnership that we have worldwide and our shared visions for a sustainable future, accelerating the energy transition, and accelerating the growth in Brazil”.

“The partnership with Vestas was essential to the construction of our new venture in Bahia.” EDF Renewables Brazil CEO Andre Salgado stated that Serra das Almas is a strong partner for EDF Renewables’s Brazilian ambitions and our commitment to carbon neutrality.

Vestas is the leader in Brazil’s wind market, with more than 1,400 turbines generating wind energy for more than 5.4 GW.

The local production of the wind turbines under the Brazilian Development Bank’s FINAME rules will create jobs, expand Brazil’s wind industry, and support the government’s efforts to promote renewables and a more sustainable energy mix.
