Qualitas Energy, a global investment platform in renewable energy, announces the acquisition of two wind projects totaling 43.2 MW. One involves repowering, while the other is a new greenfield development. The purchase includes a wind farm near Mainz, Germany, signaling the commencement of another energy transition initiative by Qualitas Energy. The 5 turbines, operational since 2002 with a 5.8 MW total capacity, will be replaced by 3 new modern turbines with 7.2 MW each. Commissioning is scheduled for 2029.

Additionally, the company is in the process of establishing a new wind farm south of Koblenz, featuring 3 turbines and a combined output of 21.6 MW. Upon successful project completion at both sites, the generated energy will meet the needs of approximately 29,000 households, leading to annual CO² savings of approximately 160,000 tons.

Qualitas Energy’s portfolio in Germany encompasses over 100 wind power projects under development, boasting a total capacity of 2.7 GW. Among these, 495 MW are currently operational and undergoing successful repowering initiatives to enhance sustainable wind power production.

“With the repowering, we are quadrupling the production of environmentally friendly wind power. For Qualitas Energy, this is another future-oriented project, enabling us to actively drive forward the energy transition in close cooperation with local partners,” says Johannes Overbeck, Head of Investments at Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH.

“Qualitas Energy recently closed one of the largest renewable energy funds in Europe with a volume of almost €2.4 billion. The Q-Energy V Fund (QE V) invests in German and international renewable energy projects and strengthens
our commitment to the decarbonization of the economy,” explains Borja Caruana, Managing Director of Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH. “In the coming years, we will expand our portfolio in Germany to a capacity of over 6
GW to support the vision of a sustainable and clean energy future. We will acquire further wind farms focusing on both repowering and significantly increasing our portfolio of greenfield projects.”
