The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced a significant policy change, exempting certain renewable energy plants from the Revised List of Models & Manufacturers (RLMM) requirements. This exemption applies to renewable energy plants located within Special Economic Zones (SEZs) or Export Oriented Units (EOUs) that supply power exclusively for the production of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives.
Under the new guidelines, renewable energy plants that meet these conditions and are commissioned by December 31, 2030, will not need to comply with the RLMM for Wind Turbine Models. This policy change is intended to support the development of Green Hydrogen production facilities within SEZs and EOUs, whether they are in the same or different SEZs/EOUs.
The exemption aligns with the guidelines for the development of onshore wind power projects, originally issued by the MNRE on October 22, 2016, and includes all subsequent clarifications and amendments.
This decision follows approval from the Hon’ble Minister of Power & New and Renewable Energy, marking a strategic move to bolster India’s renewable energy and Green Hydrogen production capabilities.
