Norwegian tech disruptor Vind AI, founded in 2022, has announced that leading offshore wind developers—including TotalEnergies, Corio Generation, EnBW, RWE, and Statkraft—are utilizing its digital platform to fast-track wind farm development. This advancement comes as Europe races to increase its wind power capacity from 220 GW to 1,300 GW by 2050.
Driving Efficiency with AI in Wind Energy
Helene Bøhler, CEO and Co-Founder of Vind AI, emphasized the critical role of technology in achieving Europe’s renewable energy targets: “Cutting-edge technology, automation, and artificial intelligence are essential for developing high-quality wind projects at the speed required to meet ambitious targets.”
Vind AI’s platform integrates real-time data, advanced optimization algorithms, and collaboration tools, enabling developers to test hundreds of design scenarios in a fraction of the time traditional methods require. The platform also addresses the growing complexities of data analysis, design optimization, environmental considerations, and community impacts in wind project development.
Industry Adoption and Success Stories
European renewable energy leaders have begun implementing Vind AI’s tool to streamline project workflows. TotalEnergies has leveraged the platform to enhance early-stage planning, achieving faster workflows without compromising quality. Neil Koronka, Technical Authority at Corio Generation, highlighted the benefits: “Vind AI provides the speed and flexibility needed to evaluate numerous scenarios efficiently while optimizing sites and exploring new opportunities. Its collaborative tools and advanced analytics enable us to deliver high-quality wind farm designs quickly and effectively.”
Corio Generation, a global offshore wind developer with approximately 30 GW under development, noted the platform’s ability to perform rapid energy production analyses and refine park layouts with ease, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Bridging Academia and Industry Needs
Jan-Tore Horn, Co-Founder of Vind AI, stressed the importance of collaboration between researchers and developers: “Our platform translates advanced academic methodologies into practical tools, addressing real-world challenges faced by developers. This approach results in faster approvals, better decisions, and more resilient wind projects.”
Vind AI’s partnership with industry leaders ensures the platform continues to evolve in response to the sector’s needs, contributing to Europe’s wind energy targets while promoting innovation in renewable energy development.
