Rasmus Errboe Appointed Ørsted’s New CEO, Succeeding Mads Nipper

Ørsted’s Board of Directors has appointed Rasmus Errboe, current Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer, as the new Group President and CEO of the company replacing Mads Nipper, who has stepped down from his position as Group President and CEO of Ørsted.

Ørsted’s Board Chair, Lene Skole, stated that shifts in the renewable energy market, including supply chain issues, rising interest rates, and regulatory changes, have redirected the company’s focus. As a result, the board and Mads Nipper have agreed on his departure, appointing Rasmus Errboe as the new CEO.

Lene Skole, welcomed Rasmus Errboe as the new CEO, citing his extensive industry knowledge and leadership experience since 2012. She expressed confidence in his ability to navigate industry challenges and drive strong results. Skole also thanked outgoing CEO Mads Nipper for expanding Ørsted’s renewable capacity from 11.3 GW in 2021 to 18.2 GW in 2025

Rasmus Errboe, Ørsted’s new CEO, expressed honor in leading the company after 13 years of service. Committed to creating value for stakeholders, he aims to steer Ørsted through industry challenges while advancing offshore wind for the green transition.

Outgoing CEO Mads Nipper reflected on his tenure, acknowledged achievements, and thanked colleagues for their dedication.

Rasmus Errboe joined Ørsted in 2012 and became part of executive management in 2022. He has held key roles, including Deputy CEO, CCO, Interim Group CFO, and Regional Head of Europe. He led Ørsted’s 2016 IPO and the 2017 Oil & Gas divestment. He also serves on Ørsted’s Executive Board and Denmark’s Confederation of Industries.
