Datta Power Infra has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with state-owned SJVN to develop a 70 MW wind energy project. This project is part of SJVN’s broader WIND-1 initiative, which aims to establish 600 MW of ISTS-connected (Inter-State Transmission System) wind power projects across India.

Under the agreement, Datta Power Infra will be responsible for developing, operating, and maintaining the project while ensuring grid compliance and regulatory adherence. The initiative is expected to strengthen India’s transition to renewable energy by utilizing inter-state transmission infrastructure for efficient power distribution.

Industry experts view this collaboration as a key step in advancing India’s renewable energy targets, aligning with the government’s goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

  1. Great to see momentum on wind, but curious—will this 70 MW project include storage or demand-side flexibility to handle intermittency? Also, how will grid balancing be managed across states under ISTS? Scaling renewables is critical, but without clear visibility into curtailment risks or real-time market integration, are we just building capacity without solving operational bottlenecks?
