GE Vernova’s Wind segment has signed an agreement to supply Forestalia with eight 6.1 MW–158m* wind turbines for a 49 MW wind project in Aragón, Spain. The agreement, booked in the first quarter of 2025, is part of a broader framework established in December 2023 to support renewable energy development in the Aragón region.

Spain aims to install 62 GW of wind power by 2030, targeting more than 80% of its electricity generation from renewable sources by the end of the decade. GE Vernova plays a key role in this transition, contributing 5.9 GW to Spain’s installed wind capacity—1.5 GW of which is located in Aragón. The company also operates manufacturing facilities in Ponferrada and Castellón, strengthening its local presence.

Forestalia specializes in developing and building wind, solar, biomass, and pellet projects. With more than 2 GW of operational capacity, its efforts are especially focused on delivering clean energy to rural areas. In addition to its own developments, Forestalia has helped bring over 4 GW of renewable energy projects to life for major operators such as Repsol, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), Lightsource BP, and Bruc Management.

Globally, GE Vernova’s Wind segment has installed around 57,000 turbines, totaling more than 120 GW of capacity. With a portfolio of next-generation, high-powered turbines, the company supports global decarbonization by delivering reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable renewable energy solutions.

Gilan Sabatier, GE Vernova’s Chief Commercial Officer of onshore wind, international markets said, “We are pleased to continue executing on our framework agreement with Forestalia as they work to help meet Spain’s wind energy goals. Our workhorse turbines are well suited to wind conditions in Spain and across Europe, as customers continue to look to wind power to meet energy demand, bolster energy security, and support renewable energy goals.”

“Forestalia has a growing portfolio in operation and construction, which will exceed an installed capacity of 1.2 GW for direct management in the coming years”, said Carlos Reyero, Forestalia’s CEO.
