The Connecticut Wind Collaborative (CWC) has released the first regional assessment of the offshore wind supply chain in the U.S. The new report, Connecticut Offshore Wind Supply Chain Assessment: Opportunities and Collaborative Efforts in the Northeast, was published in partnership with Xodus Group and The Pew Charitable Trusts.

The study highlights Connecticut’s growing role in the offshore wind industry. More than 50 companies in the state are already involved in active offshore wind projects and port development. The report also identifies over 450 additional businesses with the potential to enter the sector, including more than 130 with prior offshore wind experience or relevant technical capabilities.

”This report proves what we have been seeing for a long time; Connecticut businesses are an important link in the offshore wind supply chain and that translates into business growth and more jobs,” said Kristin Urbach, executive director of the Connecticut Wind Collaborative. “We are committed to working with our partners to implement the study’s recommendations, ensuring that Connecticut and the region capitalize on this tremendous opportunity and achieve our clean energy goals.”

The assessment outlines actionable steps for state and regional leaders to grow investment, create jobs, and strengthen the supply chain for offshore wind across the Northeast.

The Connecticut Wind Collaborative says the findings point to a major opportunity: expanding the state’s offshore wind workforce and business ecosystem as the U.S. ramps up clean energy deployment.
