BayWa r.e. has sold three onshore wind projects in Europe—two in Germany and one in France—marking a key milestone in its project development strategy.

In Germany, the company transferred ownership of the Prüm and Altenglan wind farms in Rhineland-Palatinate to KGAL Investment Management. The Prüm project, located in the Eifel region, includes two turbines with a total capacity of 11.4 MW. It is expected to be grid-connected in June 2025.

The Altenglan wind farm, situated in the West Palatinate, also features two turbines with a combined capacity of 12.4 MW. It is scheduled for completion by September 2025. Together, the two sites are projected to generate around 80,000 MWh of renewable electricity annually—enough to power more than 24,800 households.

Daniel Gäfke, COO of BayWa r.e., said, “We are delighted to celebrate these successful transactions in Q2 across two of our key wind markets. Building on a robust start to the year, we remain confident that these projects will create lasting value for our partners and contribute significantly to our renewable energy future. These achievements are testament to our ability to deliver high-quality projects at various stages, catering to a diverse range of investors – from specialised financial players to local and regional actors.”

The Altenglan site builds on the nearby 17.25 MW Bedesbach wind farm, part of BayWa r.e.’s ongoing efforts to scale renewable energy production in the region. The company will continue to manage technical and commercial operations for both projects and oversee environmental mitigation and biodiversity protection measures.

In France, BayWa r.e. sold the 12 MW Keranna wind farm to 3D Energies, a semi-public company focused on renewable energy. Located in Brittany, Keranna consists of four turbines and is expected to go online in summer 2025. It will produce approximately 33,000 MWh annually, powering about 7,400 households.

BayWa r.e. will retain responsibility for the technical operations of the French site. The project includes biodiversity initiatives and a community-focused energy plan offering local residents access to discounted renewable electricity.
