TotalEnergies, as a shareholder in North Sea OFW One GmbH, has been awarded the N-9.4 offshore wind concession by Germany’s Federal Network Agency. Located about 150 kilometers northwest of Heligoland, the site spans approximately 141 square kilometers and will support the development of 1 GW of offshore wind capacity. The concession is granted for an initial 25-year period, extendable up to 35 years.

Positioned near the N-9.1 and N-9.2 sites—also co-owned by RWE and TotalEnergies—the N-9.4 project will be part of a strategic cluster development. TotalEnergies aims to capitalize on the proximity of these sites to optimize construction and operational efficiencies, ultimately delivering cost benefits to customers. As part of the concession, Offshore Wind One GmbH will make an €18 million payment in 2026 to support marine conservation and eco-friendly fishing, along with annual €8.1 million contributions for 20 years to the local grid operator starting at commissioning.

In light of delays in grid connection timelines announced by German transmission system operators (TSOs), TotalEnergies has initiated a strategic review of its offshore wind concessions acquired since 2023. The review aims to assess development feasibility and engage in constructive discussions with German authorities. The goal is to ensure that future offshore wind projects remain viable and aligned with national energy transition objectives.
