ScottishPower Renewables, the UK-based renewable energy arm of the Iberdrola Group, has successfully completed the installation of the first section of the export cable for its East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm—marking a key milestone in the development of the €4.7 billion clean energy project.

The cable has been brought ashore at Bawdsey in Suffolk and will carry electricity generated offshore approximately 147 kilometres to the UK coast. From there, it will travel a further 37 kilometres inland to the HVDC converter station at Bramford, near Ipswich, using infrastructure previously built for the East Anglia ONE project.

With a planned capacity of 1.4 gigawatts (GW), East Anglia THREE is set to become the largest wind farm in the Iberdrola Group’s global portfolio and one of the largest in the world. Once operational at the end of 2026, it will generate enough clean electricity to power over one million homes.
