BayWa r.e. is developing a landmark hybrid renewable energy project in Spain, combining three wind farms (142 MW) with two co-located photovoltaic (PV) plants (57 MWp). The integrated design leverages dual-technology solutions to boost energy efficiency and optimize land use, while shared grid infrastructure significantly reduces connection costs. Once operational, the project will generate approximately 467 GWh of clean electricity annually—enough to power over 121,000 Spanish homes.

Each wind farm, featuring eight Nordex turbines with a capacity of 47.2 MW, is nearing completion and expected to be grid-connected between Q4 2025 and Q1 2026. The 32 MWp and 25 MWp PV plants are also progressing, with commissioning planned for Q4 2025.

To protect local biodiversity, BayWa r.e. is deploying advanced IdentiFlight detection systems that identify bird species in real time and automatically adjust turbine operations to prevent collisions with protected avian populations.
