POWERCHINA has successfully completed the foundation construction for all 18 wind turbines at the Oya Energy Hybrid Facility in South Africa, marking a major step toward full turbine installation and grid connection.
The Oya project is the world’s largest integrated renewable energy facility currently under construction, combining wind, solar, and energy storage to deliver reliable, multi-source clean power.
The facility will feature 18 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 4.8 MW. Located along a mountain ridge at elevations between 1,100 and 1,400 meters, six turbines have already been erected.
The turbine foundations use an innovative anchor cage gravity expansion design, with a base diameter of 19.6 meters, a top diameter of 6.2 meters, and a total height of 3.8 meters. Each foundation incorporates approximately 84 metric tons of steel reinforcement, ensuring structural stability in challenging terrain.
