Zelestra, a global renewable energy player focused on delivering multi-technology solutions, has signed a significant wind power contract with Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon for a capacity of 381 MW. The agreement marks a major step forward in Zelestra’s ambitious growth strategy in India.

The wind power project will support Zelestra’s larger plan to construct approximately 480 MW of wind, 1,450 MW of solar, and 150 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in India starting in 2025. This rollout includes the firm’s recently signed Firm & Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) contract with Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN)—a public sector undertaking—which involves a large-scale hybrid project integrating solar, wind, and storage technologies.

The hybrid project, to be located in Solapur, Maharashtra, is expected to deliver 24/7 green energy, with a special focus on peak hour supply during mornings and evenings. The commercial operation date is anticipated for 2027.

Sajay KV, CEO of Zelestra India, emphasized the importance of the partnership:
“This partnership with Suzlon marks a significant step in our vision to deliver even more ambitious and complex multi-technology renewable energy solutions across India. It sets the foundation for delivering our 5 GW portfolio, supported by hybrid projects with interconnection certainty of 2027 and 2028,” he said.

Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of the Suzlon Group, also shared his perspective:
“India’s energy transition is entering a new phase where round-the-clock renewable power (FDRE) is becoming the norm. This project is a milestone in that journey. We are proud to collaborate with Zelestra and remain committed to advancing innovative clean energy solutions.”

Zelestra’s India pipeline now exceeds 5.4 GW across seven states, with 1.7 GW already contracted with customers. Globally, the company was recently recognized by BloombergNEF (BNEF) as one of the top 10 clean energy sellers to corporate customers, and ranked second in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

This collaboration with Suzlon reinforces Zelestra’s positioning as a key contributor to India’s transition toward a sustainable and decarbonized energy future.
