ACWA Power Leaders Convene in Azerbaijan to Advance Central Asia Strategy and Review Khizi-Absheron Wind Project Progress

ACWA Power convened its Central Asia Steering Committee meeting in Azerbaijan from September 19 to 21, bringing together key regional leaders to align on strategic priorities and reinforce collaboration across the region.

The high-level gathering was attended by senior executives including Abid Malik, Ahmad Abbas Mirza, Anthony Brinkhuizen, Jon Zaidi, Selim Güven, Ahsen Saeed, and Ahmad Fahad. Discussions focused on strengthening partnerships, enhancing operational coordination, and advancing ACWA Power’s renewable energy initiatives in Central Asia.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured the construction site of the Khizi-Absheron 240 MW wind power plant, one of ACWA Power’s flagship renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan, to review ongoing progress and project milestones.

A key highlight of the visit was the celebration of the Group 1 Early Commercial Operations Date (ECOD1) at the Absheron site—marking a significant achievement driven by strong teamwork and commitment.

During a special dinner organized to commemorate this milestone, ACWA Power’s management recognized and awarded project company staff and EPC contractors for their professionalism, dedication, and contribution to the project’s success.

The meeting underscored ACWA Power’s continued commitment to advancing renewable energy infrastructure and fostering regional cooperation in Central Asia.
