Dutch energy companies Eneco, Lindewind, and Zeeuwind have confirmed the development of the ZE-BRA wind farm, a joint renewable energy project that will straddle the provincial boundary between Zeeland and Noord-Brabant.

The project involves the replacement of 19 existing wind turbines currently operated by the three companies. In their place, 15 modern and more efficient turbines will be constructed—14 in the municipality of Reimerswaal (Zeeland) and one in Woensdrecht (Noord-Brabant). The project already secured its SDE subsidy and received a final permit prior to this announcement.

With financing now secured, contracts for the construction phase are being finalized. Contractor H4A will be responsible for civil works including access roads, foundations, and crane platforms. Hanab will install the cables and electrical infrastructure, while Enercon will supply and erect the wind turbines.

Timeline of works:

June 2025: Hanab begins cable route work to connect the site to the power grid.

Mid-August 2025: H4A initiates civil engineering activities.

April 2026: Enercon begins turbine installation.

October 2026: First turbines expected to become operational.

January 1, 2027: Wind farm expected to be fully commissioned.

Ownership of the ZE-BRA wind farm will be split, with Eneco holding nine turbines (60%), and Zeeuwind and Lindewind sharing ownership of the remaining six turbines via their joint venture, Windpark Westerschelde.

Once operational, the ZE-BRA wind farm is expected to generate around 220,000 MWh of green electricity annually, enough to supply power to over 83,000 households.
