IWTMA Targets 10 GW Annual Wind Additions
The Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA) has called for greater harmonisation of state-level policies to enable India to add around 10 GW of wind capacity annually and reach 100 GW by 2030. India added a record 6.1 GW during FY2025-26, taking installed wind capacity to around 55 GW. The report highlights transmission readiness, grid connectivity, land acquisition, Right of Way and regulatory approvals as key challenges, while recommending digital approvals, single-window systems and coordinated transmission planning to accelerate project execution.
Iberdrola, RES Partner on 15 UK Wind Farms
Iberdrola has signed a five-year agreement with RES aimed at strengthening the operation of 15 wind farms across the UK. The long-term arrangement reinforces the growing focus on improving operational performance and reliability across existing wind portfolios as renewable generation expands. By combining Iberdrola’s wind assets with RES’s operational expertise, the partnership will support efficient management of the portfolio over the agreement period. The deal also reflects the increasing importance of long-term operations and maintenance strategies in maximising performance from established renewable energy infrastructure.
Scatec Secures Financing for 77 MW Wind Project
Scatec has secured financing for the 77 MW Urleasca onshore wind project in Romania, enabling construction to begin and marking its entry into the European onshore wind market. The project has an estimated cost of approximately €168 million, excluding VAT, with debt accounting for around 60% of the financing. A Contract-for-Difference covers approximately 57% of expected electricity production. OX2 will oversee construction through commissioning, while Scatec will retain full ownership and subsequently provide O&M and asset management services. Commercial operations are targeted for the second half of 2028.
NTPC REL Tenders 600 MW Wind Project
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has invited competitive bids for the supply and installation of wind turbine generators for a 600 MW project in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The development will comprise 200 turbines, each with a minimum rated capacity of 3 MW, and will connect to the Inter-State Transmission System. The scope covers engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing and commissioning, alongside SCADA, substations and associated infrastructure. The selected contractor will also provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services for 10 years following commissioning, supporting the project’s long-term reliability.
MERC Rejects 1.6 MW Wind Reconnection Plea
The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission has dismissed Ratnagiri Wind Power Projects Pvt. Ltd.’s petition seeking reconnection of its 1.6 MW wind turbine generator to Maharashtra’s grid. The turbine had supplied electricity without an executed Energy Purchase Agreement before being disconnected in June 2020. MERC held that the disconnection was lawful because grid scheduling requires valid contractual arrangements. The Commission also rejected the company’s monetary and compensation claims, including approximately ₹3.29 crore sought for earlier electricity supplies, while allowing it to approach an appropriate authority regarding its separate registration dispute with MEDA.
Continuum Green Energy Appoints Amit Kansal
Continuum Green Energy has appointed renewable energy industry veteran Amit Kansal as President as the company prepares for its next phase of expansion. Kansal brings more than three decades of leadership experience, including over 15 years in the power and renewable energy sectors. Before joining Continuum, he served as CEO and Managing Director of Senvion India from its inception, helping develop its manufacturing, technology and project capabilities. His career also includes senior roles at Vestas and Honeywell, along with international experience spanning India, Singapore and China.
East Anglia THREE Completes 1.4 GW Foundations
East Anglia THREE has reached a major construction milestone with all 95 foundations and transition pieces installed at the £4 billion offshore wind farm off Suffolk. The 1.4 GW project is being developed by ScottishPower Renewables and Masdar as a 50:50 joint venture. Seaway7 completed the foundation campaign and is progressing inter-array cable installation, while work on the 95 wind turbines is underway. Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate enough clean electricity for more than 1.3 million UK homes while supporting around 2,300 construction jobs.
ScottishPower–Masdar Advance £4 Billion Offshore Wind Farm
ScottishPower Renewables and Masdar have completed installation of all 95 foundations at their £4 billion East Anglia THREE offshore wind project. The 1.4 GW development features monopiles weighing between 1,200 and 1,800 tonnes, alongside 95 transition pieces. With foundation work completed, turbine installation is progressing, while Seaway7 continues work on inter-array cables. Nearly £2 billion is being invested through the UK supply chain. East Anglia THREE is expected to become fully operational by the end of 2026 and supply renewable electricity to more than 1.3 million UK homes.
EDF Signs PPA for 142.5 MW Diana Wind Farm
EDF Power Solutions has signed a Power Purchase Agreement covering Phase 1 of the 142.5 MW Diana Wind Farm in Brazil. The agreement supports the development of new wind generation capacity and adds momentum to EDF’s renewable energy activities in the Brazilian market. Long-term PPAs remain an important mechanism for supporting wind project development by providing greater revenue visibility and facilitating investment in new capacity. The Diana project adds to the continuing expansion of wind energy across Latin America, where strong renewable resources are supporting growing investment in clean electricity infrastructure.
