In light of the state government’s focus on clean and cost-effective renewable energy, the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is soliciting proposals for 100 megawatts (MW) of wind project. All of these projects will be built in the state’s 10 dams.
The government has stated that bids for wind energy projects would be opened on February 24. The electricity rate for KSEB repurchase is also set at Rs 4.10 per unit, according to the information obtained.
NTPC, KMRL, Inox Renewables, Tata Group, and Adani Power are among the corporate players that have participated in the energy board’s bids, according to the director of KSEB’s Renewable Energy and Energy Savings Division (REES), R Suku.
The government has said that the 100 MW wind energy projects have the potential to produce investments in the range of Rs 800 crore.
Suku continues, saying that Corporates have expressed interest in the Request for Qualification for 8 dams under the KSEB and 2 under the Kerala Water Authority. The plan is for the facilities to be designed, owned, built and operated.
Currently, KSEB is in charge of eight dams that are used for hydroelectric projects.
Last month NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) had invited online bids from eligible bidders for Development Package (BOS with Land) of ISTS Connected Wind Energy Projects up to Capacity of 720 MW Anywhere in India.
