One of JSW Energy’s step-down companies on Friday announced the commissioning of a 51 megawatt (MW) wind energy plant in Tamil Nadu. “JSW Renew Energy Two Limited has commissioned 51 MW of wind power capacity under phase-wise commissioning of 450 MW ISTS-connected wind power project awarded under SECI tranche X in Tamil Nadu,” JSW Energy reported in a regulatory filing.

Since then, the company’s total installed capacity has increased to 6,615 MW, with 2,855 MW of additional capacity still under construction and expected to be put into service in phases over the following 12 to 18 months, according to the statement.

JSW wants to increase its capacity to 20 GW by 2030 and has a short-term goal of 10 GW by 2025. Using a battery energy storage system and a hydro-pumped storage plant, the company has also entered the energy storage market and has committed to 3.4 GWh of energy storage capacity.
