Solarvest Borneo Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Solarvest Holdings Berhad, has unveiled a new green energy testbed at CENTEXS Headquarters in Santubong, Kuching, Sarawak, in collaboration with Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and CENTEXS.

The inauguration of the wind turbine testbed was attended by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg. The collaboration between Solarvest Borneo, CENTEXS, and Huawei Malaysia aims to stimulate innovative breakthroughs in the clean energy sector and foster local talent development within the region.

Testbeds aims to advance the exploration of sustainable energy solutions, boasting cutting-edge features like wind turbine technology, hydrogen electricity generation, micro-hydropower, and building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) systems. This partnership is integral to Solarvest’s 5-Year Strategic Roadmap, aimed at evolving into a regenerative clean energy leader through the exploration of innovative sustainable solutions.

Director of Solarvest Borneo, Mr. Leon Liew Chee Ing (刘骐英) said, “Malaysia’s proactive approach of exploring the potential of hydrogen, as outlined in the National Energy Transition Roadmap (“NETR”) directly aligns with Sarawak’s Hydrogen Economy Roadmap. It sets the stage to propelling Sarawak as a key regional green hydrogen hub and serves as a strategic lever to drive Sarawak into a developed state by 2030.”

“Propelling future advancements in clean energy that will empower Sarawak to spearhead a sustainable future will hinge on local talent. Together with CENTEXS and Huawei, we champion this vision by leveraging on Solarvest’s industry expertise to nurture a skilled workforce through education and skill development,” he added.

Chief Executive Officer of CENTEXS, Dato Haji Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abdul Rahman added, “The addition of new Testbeds at CENTEXS provides hands-on training opportunities that will enrich the learning experiences of students and ease their transition into the renewable energy sector workforce. We are delighted to partner with Solarvest Borneo and Huawei Malaysia on a valuable platform for skills enhancement and practical training across the energy applications of solar, hydrogen, and wind.”

“For instance, the hydrogen production testbed coupled with the solar PV testbed and wind turbine have enabled us to efficiently power up our green energy gallery. This practical demonstration not only showcases real-world applications but also instils in our students a profound understanding of green energy technologies,” he added.

Vice President of Huawei Malaysia Digital Power Business, Mr. Chong Chern Peng (张振鹏) said, “Technological advancements play a critical role in driving clean energy adoption. Huawei Malaysia is committed to making meaningful contributions to energy supply reliability and efficiency with innovative technologies. We are confident in helping build a better tomorrow for Sarawak with sustainable green technology solutions. We are also committed to ensuring that this is an ongoing venture with the supply of local talent in the green industry who will be empowered to develop and continue the green agenda for the nation.”
