Wind energy is a local, competitive, and scalable solution to meet the growing demand for reliable, affordable, and clean energy in Europe. EcoVadis, WindEurope, and five prominent wind energy industry organizations – ENGIE, Hitachi Energy, Siemens Gamesa, Statkraft, and Vestas – have come together to launch the ‘Wind Energy Initiative’.

The initiative is aimed at expediting the adoption of sustainable practices by promoting robust collaboration among trading partners and amplifying positive impacts throughout their value chains.

The ‘Wind Energy Initiative’ brings together key stakeholders in the wind energy sector to identify and implement common sustainable business practices.

Members of the Initiative, including EcoVadis, WindEurope, ENGIE, Hitachi Energy, Siemens Gamesa, Statkraft, and Vestas, pledge to collaborate in enhancing supply chain transparency and raising industry standards on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues. The Initiative has outlined the following strategic goals:

  1. Enhance the wind industry’s contribution to combating climate change by prioritizing carbon emission reduction, promoting renewable energy integration, and embracing circular practices.
  2. Advance the well-being and equitable treatment of all individuals within the wind energy supply chain.
  3. Promote biodiversity conservation to safeguard ecosystems affected by wind energy-related activities.
  4. Foster significant membership expansion in the years ahead.
