The American Clean Power Association (ACP) issued the following statement from Anne Reynolds, ACP Vice President for Offshore Wind, following the approval by the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) of the Record of Decision for Avangrid’s New England 1 (791 megawatts) and New England 2 (1,080 megawatts) offshore wind projects:

“The Record of Decision for the New England 1 and 2 projects represents another significant permitting milestone for the U.S. offshore wind industry and will provide clean and reliable electricity to the equivalent of approximately one million homes when completed. These projects will create thousands of jobs, not only direct employment in construction, but also expanded opportunities in manufacturing, engineering, and support services. Today’s approval, as well as progress on other recent offshore wind projects, demonstrates BOEM’s dedication to deploying clean power and supporting the momentum of the offshore wind industry in the United States.”
