BayWa r.e. has successfully sold three wind projects in Germany, advancing the country’s energy transition. The projects—Beckum (North Rhine-Westphalia), Jembke (Lower Saxony), and Reichenbach (Rhineland-Palatinate)—will generate over 120,000 MWh of green electricity annually, powering approximately 40,000 local households.

The transactions include the following:

  • Beckum: Construction is set to begin in Q4 2024. With four wind turbines and a capacity of 21.9 MW, the park will generate around 46,000 MWh per year, supplying 15,000 households. BayWa r.e. sold the project rights to EEF Erneuerbare Energien Fabrik GmbH.
  • Jembke: Currently under construction by BayWa r.e. through an EPC contract, this park will have three wind turbines with a total capacity of 15.3 MW, producing about 32,000 MWh per year for 10,600 households. The project was sold to ENOVA Value, a German wind developer and investor.
  • Reichenbach: Also being built by BayWa r.e. under an EPC contract, this park will feature three wind turbines with a capacity of 18.6 MW and is expected to generate 42,000 MWh annually, powering 14,000 households. The project was sold to German investment firm KGAL and is planned for commissioning in November 2024.

In addition to promoting clean energy, BayWa r.e. ensures that local communities benefit financially from these projects and is dedicated to protecting biodiversity. To minimize environmental impact, compensatory measures such as enhancing habitats for birds and bats will be implemented near the wind farms. This focus on sustainability remains central to BayWa r.e.’s renewable energy efforts.

Andreas Hornig, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Wind GmbH said, “We are delighted with these successful sales and proud to contribute to the German energy transition. The wind market in Germany remains highly attractive, with a lot of momentum and an increasingly positive outlook for expansion. With more than 730 MW of installed wind capacity and a pipeline exceeding three GW, BayWa r.e. is well-positioned to continue driving forward the growth of renewables in Germany.”

Matthias Taft, CEO of BayWa r.e. AG added, “Following the recent selling of more than 220 MWp in the UK, we are pleased to announce yet another series of high-quality deals. Thanks to the remarkable commitment and dedication of the transaction and projects team, all of them have closed as planned and on schedule. We look forward to building on this momentum, as we expect more sales globally until the end of the year, particularly in Germany, France, the UK, the Netherlands and the United States.”
