At the end of September, the Nordex Group announced it had secured orders from Canada totaling 500 MW, comprising 74 N163 wind turbines. The orders include a long-term Premium Service for maintenance, ranging between 15 and 30 years.
The turbines, designed as cold climate variants, will be delivered between 2025 and 2026. To ensure high availability during harsh winter months, the turbines will be equipped with Nordex’s Advanced Anti-Icing System for rotor blades, optimizing performance in extreme weather conditions.
While the names of the customers and the wind farms remain undisclosed, Patxi Landa, Chief Sales Officer at the Nordex Group, emphasized the significance of the projects. “These projects are crucial to our Canadian operations. With our proven Advanced Anti-Icing System and cold climate adaptations, we aim to enhance turbine yield during the winter seasons, a strategy we’ve successfully implemented in Northern Europe. Canadian customers will now benefit from our expertise and technology,” said Landa.
The Nordex Group has already sold nearly 1.2 GW of turbines to various customers across Canada, further solidifying its presence in the country’s renewable energy market.
