Qualitas Energy, a global leader in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure investments, has acquired seven wind farms in Germany from Swiss investment manager SUSI Partners. The portfolio includes 33 turbines, commissioned between 2012 and 2017, with a combined capacity of 99 MW. These wind farms currently generate sustainable power for approximately 63,000 households and are located across Schleswig-Holstein, Brandenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Rhineland-Palatinate, Baden-Württemberg, and Bavaria. This acquisition underscores Qualitas Energy’s commitment to renewable energy expansion and its pivotal role in Europe’s energy transition.
“The acquisition of this portfolio represents a significant milestone in our strategy to drive long-term, sustainable value creation in the renewable energy sector,” said Johannes Overbeck, Head of Investments at Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH. “Repowering aging turbines is a key strategy for advancing the energy transition and sustainably optimizing the output of wind power projects. By replacing existing turbines with new, higher-capacity models, we are accelerating the shift towards a green, sustainable energy future and reinforcing our commitment to both infrastructure renewal and new developments,” he added.
Qualitas Energy intends to repower the portfolio, increasing its total capacity to about 173 MW in the coming years. Once completed, the upgraded wind farms will provide clean electricity to over 118,000 households. This acquisition complements Qualitas Energy’s existing management of over 100 projects in Germany, aligning with the company’s goal to achieve a total capacity of 4 GW in the country. The expansion is supported by a €1.2 billion investment from Qualitas Energy Fund V, closed in 2022.
