RWE has launched the first call for projects under its community fund in the Normandy and Hauts-de-France regions. This initiative aims to strengthen the link between renewable energy production and local communities. Funded by the output from RWE’s wind farms in Catillon-Fumechon (Oise), Ronchois (Seine-Maritime), and Troisvilles-Reumont (Nord), the fund has €120,000 allocated for its first year. It is designed to support projects that benefit the public interest. Non-profit organizations, including associations and foundations, across both regions are invited to apply, with the exception of local authorities.

Any initiatives focused on heritage preservation, biodiversity conservation, and the energy transition are eligible for funding. These categories include a broad spectrum of projects, such as promoting local traditions, restoring cultural or religious sites, acquiring protected land, reducing waste, and curbing greenhouse gas emissions. RWE will evaluate the projects based on their alignment with the fund’s core themes, the quality and clarity of the proposal, its feasibility, and adherence to the fund’s ethical standards. The selection committee will also prioritize projects that directly benefit the areas surrounding RWE’s operational renewable energy parks. Applicants have until June 1, 2025, to submit their proposals.

Katja Wünschel, CEO RWE Renewables Europe & Australia: “RWE is rolling out its community fund to support the regions that host our wind farms and their communities. This fund extends the impact of our actions by delivering tangible benefits that contribute to local solidarity initiatives. Local and shared—that is how we envision the energy transition.”
