Nexif Ratch Energy (NRE), a leading renewable energy company in Southeast Asia, has reiterated its commitment to Camarines Sur during a high-level meeting with Governor Luigi Villafuerte, Congressman Luis Raymund Villafuerte, and NRE CEO Cyril Dissescou, alongside Nicolo Subido, NRE Country Director in the Philippines.

“The commitment of Nexif Ratch Energy to Camarines Sur has been consistent and commendable,” said Governor Villafuerte. “We’ve seen how they deliver—from Calabanga Solar to this landmark offshore wind project, and we are confident that their continued presence will bring sustained progress to the province.”

The meeting focused on the progress of the 500 MW San Miguel Bay Wind Power Project, one of the region’s most advanced offshore wind initiatives. Recently, the project has achieved significant milestones, including receiving its Pre-Development Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC), being designated a Green Lane Project by the Board of Investments (BOI), and obtaining the Certificate of Energy Project of National Significance (CEPNS) from the Department of Energy (DOE). The DOE has recognized the project as one of the leading offshore wind ventures in the Philippines, with expectations to become one of the first to supply clean, renewable offshore wind energy in the country.

The project will now proceed with technical and environmental studies, ensuring its development aligns with both environmental safeguards and local community needs. These studies will be conducted in close collaboration with national agencies and local stakeholders. “We are deeply committed to the Camarines Sur province, not only as an investment location but as a long-term partner in delivering clean energy transition to the country,” said Mr. Cyril Dissescou. “Together with the Provincial Government and our stakeholders, we are working with the utmost diligence and accountability to deliver the country’s first kilowatt hour of offshore wind power, right here in San Miguel Bay.”

NRE also confirmed its participation in the Green Energy Auction 5 (GEA-5), a major event focused on offshore wind projects. This auction is a significant step in the Philippines’ push to expand offshore wind energy and meet renewable energy targets outlined in the Philippine Energy Plan. NRE’s involvement highlights its dedication to leading this clean energy transition.

Governor Villafuerte and Congressman Villafuerte expressed full support for the project, emphasizing its national importance and local benefits, including the creation of green jobs, infrastructure development, and long-term economic growth.
