Avangrid, the US subsidiary of the Iberdrola Group, has signed its first long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with SmartestEnergy, a global renewable energy solutions provider for businesses. Under the agreement, SmartestEnergy will purchase the full output from Avangrid’s Lempster and Groton wind projects in New Hampshire, which together provide 72 megawatts (MW) of clean energy.

The Lempster facility, located in Sullivan County, has a capacity of 24 MW and has been operating since 2008 as New Hampshire’s first modern, commercial-scale wind farm. The Groton project in Grafton County adds 48 MW of capacity and has been in operation since 2012.

With a portfolio spanning 23 states, Avangrid operates 80 renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 10.5 GW, strengthening its position as a leader in the US clean energy transition.
