Juniper Green Energy has commissioned India’s largest wind turbine, marking a significant milestone in the country’s renewable energy sector and the company’s expanding wind portfolio.
The turbine features Envision Energy’s EN-182 wind turbine generator with a 5 MW capacity and a 181-metre rotor diameter, making it the largest wind turbine by rotor diameter installed in India to date. The deployment is expected to enhance energy yield and improve overall generation efficiency.
The commissioning is part of Juniper Green Energy’s broader wind expansion programme, under which the company has also added 82 MW of wind capacity across Barmer in Rajasthan and the Surendranagar and Rajkot districts in Gujarat as of June 22, 2026.
According to the company, the installation of 51 EN-182 turbines across multiple project sites was completed within six months, despite significant logistical and engineering challenges, including the transportation of 89-metre-long blades.
Commenting on the development, Ankush Malik, CEO of Juniper Green Energy, said the project demonstrates the company’s ability to scale renewable energy infrastructure through advanced technology deployment and strong execution capabilities.
He added that the company remains focused on expanding its renewable energy portfolio to support India’s clean energy transition.
The latest commissioning follows the recent addition of 305 MW of renewable capacity in Gujarat and the commencement of India’s first Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project in Rajasthan, further strengthening Juniper Green Energy’s diversified clean energy pipeline.
