POWERCHINA has completed the grid connection of all 80 wind turbines at the 600 MW Al-Ghat Wind Power EPC Project, marking a key milestone ahead of the project’s 168-hour full-site reliability trial run.

The project uses 7.7 MW wind turbine generators manufactured in China, making it the wind power project with the largest single-unit turbine capacity currently deployed in Saudi Arabia.

Once fully operational, the 600 MW wind farm is expected to supply clean electricity to hundreds of thousands of people while reducing dependence on long-distance power transmission. The project is also projected to offset approximately 1 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, equivalent to the environmental impact of planting nearly 50 million trees.

The successful grid connection of all turbines follows the completion of several major construction milestones, including substation back-feeding, the commissioning of the first wind turbine, and the installation of all 80 turbines across the project site.

POWERCHINA said the achievement reflects the project team’s execution capabilities and reinforces the company’s expertise in delivering large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects in international markets.
