NLC India Renewables Secures LoA For 200 MW Wind Project In Karnataka

NLC India Limited, a Navratna public sector undertaking under the Government of India, has announced a major expansion of its renewable energy portfolio with a new wind power project in Karnataka.

In a regulatory filing submitted to the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and BSE Limited under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, the company said its wholly-owned subsidiary, NLC India Renewables Limited, has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI).

Under the awarded contract, NLC India Renewables Limited will develop a 200 MW wind power project in Koppal, Karnataka. The company will also supply the electricity generated from the project to SECI as part of the agreement.

The development strengthens NLC India’s focus on expanding its presence in the renewable energy sector and contributing to India’s clean energy transition. The proposed wind project is expected to add fresh renewable generation capacity while supporting the country’s growing demand for sustainable electricity.

The official communication was issued on August 10, 2026, and was signed by Sushanta Kumar Panda, Company Secretary and Compliance Officer of NLC India Limited.

Headquartered in Chennai, with its corporate offices in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, NLC India has been expanding its renewable energy activities alongside its traditional energy operations. The company’s latest wind project in Karnataka represents another step toward diversifying its generation portfolio and increasing its contribution to India’s renewable energy targets.

The project also highlights the growing role of public sector enterprises in developing large-scale renewable energy assets and strengthening the country’s clean power supply infrastructure.
