Hsinyuan Wind Power Co. Ltd, a wpd subsidiary, and Bank SinoPac have completed the financing for the Hsinyuan wind farm in Taiwan. With six Vestas V136 turbines, the farm in Yunlin County, Lunbei District is already operational.

Financial close took place on 18.03.2024. Since 2005, wpd has been active in Taiwan, undertaking wind and solar energy projects independently since 2016. With over 200 onshore wind turbines installed, wpd Taiwan has 90 specialists, equipped to handle both existing plant operations and upcoming projects totaling 275 MW of onshore wind and 50 MWp of PV. Expected to commence commercial operations in Q2 of this year, Hsinyuan is likely to elevate wpd’s onshore wind power installed capacity in Taiwan to over 500 MW, strengthening its prominent standing in the local renewable energy domain.

“Our Hsinyuan project takes advantage of the excellent conditions for wind energy on the west coast of Taiwan,” says Ralf Ketteler, Head of International Project Finance at wpd. “With a hub height of 112 meters, the six turbines are
not only currently the largest onshore wind turbines in the country, but also make a further important contribution to the success of Taiwan’s energy transition.”
