Deutsche WindGuard’s technical management division in Varel has surpassed 1 GW of renewable energy capacity under monitoring for the first time, marking a significant growth milestone for its 24/7 control centre.
The control centre currently monitors renewable energy assets with a combined capacity of more than 1 GW across Germany and the Netherlands. The portfolio includes wind farms, solar photovoltaic (PV) installations, hybrid projects and battery energy storage systems.
The company said the milestone highlights the growing role of professional technical management in ensuring the safe, secure and efficient operation of renewable energy assets.
24/7 Monitoring to Support Asset Availability
Deutsche WindGuard said the increasing complexity of renewable energy operations is driving demand for comprehensive technical management services. Asset operators must manage commercial performance alongside regulatory, organisational, occupational health and safety, and IT security requirements.
The company’s 24/7 control centre serves as the operational hub for its technical management activities. It enables the real-time detection of faults and supports the rapid initiation of corrective measures to reduce downtime and maintain asset availability.
“Our aim is to ease operators’ day-to-day workload as much as possible. With short response times, clearly defined processes and sound technical decisions, we ensure high effective asset availability and optimum performance,” said Nicolas Kluth, Head of Technical Management at Deutsche WindGuard.
WONDER Platform Supports Technical Management
Deutsche WindGuard said its technical management services are supported by more than 25 years of experience and include dedicated customer contacts who coordinate technical measures and communication between asset owners, service providers, direct marketers and grid operators.
A key component of the company’s service offering is WONDER, its proprietary wind farm management system. The platform consolidates operational data, documentation and workflows, providing a centralised basis for technical decision-making and asset management.

Focus on IT Security and Critical Infrastructure
Deutsche WindGuard also highlighted its focus on cybersecurity and compliance for renewable energy infrastructure. In 2022, the company became one of the early technical management providers for wind farms to demonstrate to Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) that its 24/7 control centre met the IT security requirements applicable to operators of critical infrastructures under Section 8a of the BSI Act.
The company said it has continued to strengthen its IT security standards through process optimisation, regular audits and recurring compliance assessments.

The expansion beyond 1 GW of monitored capacity strengthens Deutsche WindGuard’s position in technical management for renewable energy assets across Germany and the Netherlands, while demonstrating the growing importance of centralised monitoring and digital asset management as renewable energy portfolios become more complex.
