Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC (Masdar), a powerhouse in clean energy from the UAE, has teamed up with Bapco Energies, the driving force behind Bahrain’s energy transition. The collaboration is for exploring wind energy projects in the Kingdom, with a capacity of up to 2 gigawatts.
The agreement focuses on both near-shore and offshore wind farms – a first for Masdar in Bahrain and a groundbreaking move for the entire region and the Middle East.With this collaboration, Bahrain aims to turbocharge the decarbonization of critical industrial sectors as it has set a target of 30 percent emission reduction by 2035 and a net-zero emissions target by 2060.
Masdar Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, said, “As a global clean energy pioneer, Masdar will utilize its well-established expertise and track record in delivering wind energy projects globally, both onshore and offshore. It is a privilege to be supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain to achieve its net zero ambitions and power a more sustainable future.”

Masdar repertoire includes the 400MW Dumat Al Jandal wind farm (Saudi Arabia’s first), the 630MW London Array offshore wind project (powering half a million British homes), and the 103.5MW UAE Wind Program.
