ScottishPower Renewables, the UK renewable energy subsidiary of Iberdrola Group, has signed a five-year agreement with renewable energy company RES to strengthen the operation and maintenance of 15 onshore wind farms across the UK.
The agreement, signed in July, covers a combined renewable energy capacity of 588 MW and is aimed at improving the availability, safety and efficiency of the wind farms amid growing demand for renewable electricity.
The portfolio includes Harestanes, one of Scotland’s largest onshore wind farms. According to RES data, the 15 wind farms have sufficient combined capacity to supply electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 412,000 households.
Under the agreement, RES will support the operation and maintenance of the wind farms, helping to maintain reliable renewable power generation and strengthen the UK’s wind energy value chain.
The collaboration is also expected to create 32 new jobs and support a wider network of suppliers, contractors and technical professionals involved in wind farm operations and maintenance.
Iberdrola said the partnership reflects its commitment to improving asset availability, supporting electrification and advancing the energy transition through strategic collaborations.
