Alcazar Energy Partners, a prominent renewable energy investor in emerging markets, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) to develop a 2 GW onshore wind power project in Egypt. This significant collaboration aims to accelerate Egypt’s renewable energy transition by delivering clean electricity to over 1.3 million households.
The 2 GW wind project aligns with Egypt’s Vision 2030 goals for renewable energy and environmental sustainability. Once operational, the project will prevent up to 4.7 million tons of CO₂ emissions annually and generate approximately 12,500 construction jobs, alongside 1,170 full-time operational roles.
Daniel Calderon, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Alcazar Energy Partners, highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating, “This MoU with EETC and NREA demonstrates our joint dedication to Egypt’s energy transition through large-scale sustainable projects. Working closely with the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, and Deputy Minister Ms. Sabah Mashaly, we aim to build a greener future for Egypt.”
This landmark project is set to boost Egypt’s renewable energy goals, supporting the nation’s transition to sustainable power while creating local employment and expertise in the renewable energy sector.
