Suzlon Energy has secured a 201.6 MW wind power order from Waaree Forever Energies Private Limited (WFEPL), the independent power producer (IPP) arm of the Waaree Group, for the development of the group’s maiden wind energy project in Andhra Pradesh. The project will be executed under Suzlon’s Development Company (DevCo) model, marking the company’s second DevCo-led EPC order within a week.
Under the contract, Suzlon will supply and install 64 units of its S144 wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW, taking the company’s order book in Andhra Pradesh to nearly 1 GW.
As part of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) scope, Suzlon will be responsible for land acquisition, turbine supply, balance of plant (BoP), project commissioning, and lifetime operations and maintenance (O&M) services.
The company said the order reflects the growing adoption of the DevCo execution model, which is increasingly being used for large-scale renewable energy projects to accelerate project delivery, reduce development risks, and improve scalability.
Girish Tanti, Vice Chairman of Suzlon Group, said the partnership brings together two companies that have established strong positions in India’s renewable energy sector, with Suzlon in wind energy and Waaree in solar manufacturing. He added that the collaboration reflects the industry’s transition toward integrated renewable energy solutions and the increasing preference for the DevCo business model.
Ajay Kapur, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, said the order reinforces growing demand for integrated project development and EPC capabilities that help de-risk execution while enabling large-scale renewable energy deployment.
