Qualitas Energy has commenced construction of its 42 MW Ingstetten wind farm repowering project in Germany, replacing ageing wind turbines with higher-capacity technology to enhance renewable energy generation and support the country’s energy transition.
Located in the municipality of Ingstetten in Baden-Württemberg, around 35 kilometres southwest of Ulm, the project involves dismantling five existing NEG Micon NM 48 wind turbines, including their foundations, crane pads and access roads. The existing infrastructure will be replaced with six Enercon E-175 wind turbines, each with an installed capacity of 7 MW, increasing the wind farm’s total installed capacity to 42 MW.
The groundbreaking ceremony, held on July 29, was attended by representatives from the Baden-Württemberg state parliament, local municipalities, the Alb-Donau District Office, Qualitas Energy and construction partner Stricker, highlighting broad regional support for the project and its role in strengthening the state’s renewable energy infrastructure.
Johannes Overbeck, CEO of Qualitas Energy Germany, said the start of construction marks another milestone for the company’s wind energy platform in the country and reflects its commitment to delivering renewable energy projects that contribute to a more sustainable and secure energy system.
Christopher Koller, Project Manager for the Ingstetten wind farm, said the repowering project will improve site efficiency by replacing older turbines with modern, higher-capacity technology, enabling better utilisation of available wind resources while strengthening regional energy supply.
Qualitas Energy expects all six turbines to be commissioned by the end of 2027. Once operational, the wind farm is projected to generate enough renewable electricity to power approximately 28,000 households annually.
The project forms part of Qualitas Energy’s broader expansion strategy in Germany, where the company manages a portfolio of more than 100 wind energy projects, a 3 GW late-stage development pipeline, and over 1 GW of wind capacity either under construction or already in operation. The company said it continues to pursue growth through strategic acquisitions and investments in renewable energy assets.
