Kshema Power, a renewable energy engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company, has secured an order from a leading independent power producer (IPP) to develop critical transmission infrastructure for a 315 MW wind power project in Karnataka.
Under the order, Kshema Power will undertake the supply, civil works, erection and commissioning of approximately 33 km of 220 kV single-circuit transmission line installed on double-circuit and multi-circuit towers.
The scope also includes the supply, civil works, erection and commissioning of unit substations and 33 kV transmission line infrastructure, covering key power evacuation requirements for the wind project.
The order comes amid continued growth in India’s wind energy sector. The country added a record 6,057 MW of wind capacity in FY 2025-26, taking total installed wind capacity beyond 57 GW, according to data from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
Karnataka ranks among India’s leading states in wind power capacity, with approximately 8.9 GW installed. As renewable generation capacity expands, the development of adequate transmission and power evacuation infrastructure is becoming increasingly important for integrating new projects into the national grid.
The Central Electricity Authority’s National Electricity Plan (Transmission) envisages more than 191,000 circuit kilometres of new transmission lines and investments exceeding ₹9.15 lakh crore through 2032 to support the integration of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
Dr. Sateesh Basant, Managing Director of Kshema Power, said transmission infrastructure will play an increasingly important role in India’s renewable energy expansion, noting that the ability to evacuate and reliably deliver renewable electricity to the grid is as important as adding generation capacity.
The project covers an integrated EPC scope, including procurement of approvals for high-voltage transmission infrastructure, substations, electrical balance of plant, civil works, erection and commissioning.
Kshema Power has executed more than 5.2 GW of renewable energy infrastructure globally, including over 4,500 MW of wind EPC projects, 2,000 km of power transmission lines and 2,400 MVA of substation capacity.
The company said the latest order further strengthens its position as an end-to-end EPC partner for large-scale renewable energy projects and supports the development of infrastructure required for India’s growing renewable power capacity.
