Europe’s leading independent service provider Deutsche Windtechnik AG has acquired 100 percent of the shares in GFW Gesellschaft für Windenergieanlagen GmbH & Co KG. The aim is to further strengthen the companies in their international growth and to increase their capacity to provide maintenance for wind turbines.

GFW will retain its name for the time being and will be structurally integrated as a unit under Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service. Holger Hämel and Severin Mielimonka, the Managing Directors at Deutsche Windtechnik X-Service,
will jointly manage the business unit together with GFW Managing Director Jürgen Fuhrländer. GFW’s headquarters will remain in Rennerod in Westerwald.

GFW’s focus is on Fuhrländer, Senvion and Nordex

GFW focuses on classic turbine service, repair orders, expert opinions, troubleshooting, spare parts and engineering. The technological focus is on the manufacturers Fuhrländer, Senvion and Nordex. All of this perfectly
complements Deutsche Windtechnik’s service portfolio and multi-brand competence, and the acquisition opens up numerous opportunities and interfaces. Many special projects will also benefit from the merger, such as
large component replacement, dismantling of old turbines, special service deployments in foreign countries or the international spare parts business for selected technologies. In addition, Rennerod, where GFW has its headquarters,
will be integrated as a service base and regional node in Deutsche Windtechnik’s service network.

Expanding capacities together

The transaction was driven by both companies. Matthias Brandt, Director of Deutsche Windtechnik, said: “GFW and Deutsche Windtechnik have known each other well for years: We have worked together successfully on a wide variety of projects. In order to be able to cope even better with the diverse challenges posed by our strong growth, we are now looking to grow closer, realize our full potential and become even stronger together.” Jürgen
Fuhrländer, Managing Director of GFW, added: “I was looking for a suitable shareholder with excellent future prospects for GFW. It is important to me that we have a shareholder who has the employees and the location in mind, and that we bring them forward together. They are wind experts with passion, just like us!” Together with his brother Joachim, Jürgen Fuhrländer founded the wind turbine manufacturer Fuhrländer and was the head of the engineering
department there for a long time before he moved to the service department with GFW.
