NTPC’s wholly-owned renewable energy arm, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), has requested expressions of interest (EoIs) for shortlisting appropriate land banks and parcels for wind energy projects in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh.

The deadline for proposal submissions is March 30, 2022, and bids will be opened on the same day only.

NTPC will utilize the Eol response to pick several land banks or land parcels for wind energy project development. Different replies and contributions will also be utilized to develop future requests for proposal (RfP) standards or to construct a strategic collaboration to assess wind energy project locations.

According to the tender document, the land parcel should be flat, with a gradient of less than 5%, and should not be less than 500 metres in order to effectively plan roads, drainage, cable lines, and other services. Also, the land should be accessible through all-weather roads.

When it comes to erecting wind farms, the property should be free of government restrictions. A single site, or many locations linked to a single pooling substation, should have a capacity of more than 100 MW.

The provided land parcels’ pooling substation shall be no more than 50 kilometres from the closest state transmission utility (STU) substation.

Additionally, the 100 MW capacity can be dispersed across different stretches of land within a single village or across numerous villages. However, the evacuation sites at each of these places should be within 50 kilometres of one another.

Following the identification of applicants who are interested in providing land banks or land parcels through this Eol, RfP will be requested to acquire the property outright or separately arrange a long-term lease deal with the property owner.

NTPC REL invited bids earlier this month for land acquisition and an extra-high voltage (EHV) transmission system package for the development of 500 MW of STU linked solar projects in Rajasthan. The last date for proposal submissions is March 21, 2022.
