GUVNL Awards Contracts for 500 MW of Wind Projects in Phase V Auction

The results of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited’s (GUVNL) 500 MW wind tender (Phase V) have been announced and only 300 MW of the 500 MW total capacity could be auctioned.

The contract was awarded as under:

Juniper Green Energy: 70 MW at ₹3.11/kWh
Evergreen Renewables: 30 MW at ₹3.17/kWh
SJVN Green Energy: 100 MW at ₹3.17/kWh
Blupine Energy: 100 MW at ₹3.17/kWh (through the bucket-filling method)

The developers will enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement with GUVNL. They are responsible for obtaining grid connectivity, and all expenses incurred, including wheeling charges and losses, are to be borne by them. The wind turbines used in the project should be of a type certified by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. The annual capacity utilization factor (CUF) must not be less than 22%, and the successful bidders must maintain generation within +20% and -20% of the declared CUF during the 25-year PPA duration.

The project should be designed for interconnection with the state or central transmission utility substation through a dedicated transmission line for energy delivery to the Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation periphery. The developers can avail of a greenshoe option of an additional 500 MW.
