Renewable energy developer Ox2 has signed a contract with Vestas for the Eolia wind park in Italy’s Apulia Region, consisting of six V150-4.5 MW wind turbines. The agreement also includes a 35-year service agreement for Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) to ensure optimal performance and maintenance of the wind turbines.

For Vestas, this contract is its longest-ever service agreement in Italy, which highlights the company’s commitment to optimizing lifetime performance and ensuring business case certainty for its customers in one of Europe’s largest wind markets. The order includes the delivery of turbines, expected in the first half of 2024, with commissioning planned for the second half of the same year. The contract also solidifies Vestas’ leadership in Italy’s wind energy sector, where the company has already installed over 5.1 GW of capacity since 1991.

“I would like to thank Ox2 for choosing Vestas for their first project in Italy. We expect the reliability of Vestas’ 4 MW platform and our full-scope, performance-based service concept will provide our customer with long-term business case certainty. This order highlights the shift of attention to the entire lifecycle of wind farms and our customers’ trust in Vestas’ long-term service capabilities and commitment,” said Vestas General Manager Italy & Turkey, Francesco Amati.
