The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued a clarification regarding the Guidelines for the development of onshore wind power projects, along with amendments made on July 4, 2024. The original guidelines were established on October 22, 2016. To ensure a smooth transition and maintain continuity in ongoing project developments, MNRE has clarified that the recent amendments will apply only to future wind power projects.
Specifically, these amendments will apply to projects that are registered with the State Nodal Agencies (SNA) after the notification date of July 4, 2024, or the date set by the respective state government through Government Orders (GO), policy, or guidelines—whichever is later.
This clarification aims to provide clear guidance for developers and ensure that existing projects are not adversely affected by the new amendments, allowing for a seamless continuation of wind power project development in India.
