During a ceremony in Taipei, TotalEnergies and its partners announced the successful inauguration of the Yunlin offshore wind farm, now fully operational with a capacity of 640 MW. TotalEnergies holds a 29.46% stake in Yunneng Wind Power Co., Ltd., the joint venture behind the project, alongside Skyborn Renewables (31.98%), EGCO Group (26.56%), and Sojitz (12%).

Led by Skyborn Renewables, the project’s development and construction received support from all partners. After the anticipated Commercial Operations Date (COD) in June 2025, TotalEnergies will assume technical operations management, while Skyborn Renewables will continue overseeing other management functions.

Located 15 kilometers off Taiwan’s west coast at depths of up to 35 meters, the Yunlin wind farm features 80 turbines, each with 8 MW capacity. The electricity generated is supplied to the Taiwanese grid under two 20-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Taiwan Power Company (TPC) at an average rate of $165/MWh.

With an annual output of 2.4 TWh, the wind farm powers over 600,000 Taiwanese households while reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 1.2 million tons. “We are very pleased to be inaugurating the Yunlin offshore wind farm, as we take a new step forward in our offshore wind development”, said Olivier Jouny, Senior Vice President Renewables at TotalEnergies. “This 640 MW project will help us achieve our 2025 targets for 35 GW of gross renewable capacity and over 50 TWh of net electricity production, amounting to 10% of TotalEnergies’ energy output. Our role as technical operator on Yunlin will allow us to strengthen our offshore wind competencies as we look ahead to our future projects in Germany, Denmark, and the United Kingdom”, he added.
