Vestas has secured a contract from Statkraft Peru to supply and install turbines for the 72 MW Emma Wind Farm in the Piura region of Peru, marking the Danish wind turbine manufacturer’s return to the Peruvian market with its 4 MW platform.
Under the agreement, Vestas will supply and install 16 V163-4.5 MW wind turbines, each featuring a hub height of 119 metres. Delivery of the main turbine components is scheduled for the second quarter of 2027, while commissioning of the wind farm is expected in the first quarter of 2028.
The Emma Wind Farm will be developed by Statkraft Peru, a renewable energy generation company and subsidiary of Norway’s state-owned Statkraft. The project is expected to support Peru’s renewable energy expansion and contribute to diversification of the country’s electricity mix.
Andrés Gismondi, Vice President of Sales at Vestas for the Southern Cone and Northern Latin America, said the company is confident in Peru’s growth potential as a renewable energy market and highlighted wind power’s role in strengthening energy security and supporting long-term sustainability.
The project also expands Vestas’ relationship with the Peruvian market, where the company has operated for more than a decade. Vestas currently provides operation and maintenance services for 62 wind turbines with a combined installed capacity of 100 MW in the country.
The Emma Wind Farm is expected to further strengthen wind power development in Peru while supporting the country’s energy transition and sustainable development objectives.
