Mondonuovo wind farm, RWE’s largest onshore wind farm in Italy, has been commissioned. It was under construction for one year. The wind farm, located in Brindisi province in Mesagne municipality in Apulia, has a capacity of 53.1 MW and includes 9 turbines, each with a capacity of 5.9 MW. The wind farm will power up approximately 55,000 Italian households. Speaking on the commissioning, Katja Wünschel, CEO RWE Renewables Europe & Australia said, “The commissioning of Mondonuovo wind farm is an important milestone in our journey to support Italy in building a clean, stable and cost-effective energy supply. A big thank you to the RWE team, the local community and all companies and partners involved. Now our Italian renewables fleet can supply more than 500,000 homes. Looking ahead, the next projects using the Italian wind and sun are in the starting blocks.”
